ALUMNI

What are the alumni up to? We would love to post an update about what you are doing these days and any great memories you have of being a Mustang! Email us at rojohnson@lwsd.org  and we will post it here.

Jordyn Kehle  2004-2006  Middle Hitter

I am currently attending Western Washington University where I am majoring in Philosophy with  minor in English. I will be graduating in Spring 2011 if all goes accordingly. This winter I am applying to graduate schools for English literature programs and hoping to extend my time at Western as a graduate student. As far as volleyball, I continue to play intramurals (both women's and co-ed) for school each quarter, as well as participating in a grass doubles tournament with Redmond's very own 2007 setter--Leslie "Bear" Ihnot. Although the years keep gaining I will most certainly never forget the glory days of the 2006 Mustang Season!

Chelsea Gray  2004-2006  Opposite Hitter

Volleyball wise I play intramurals, and coach the men’s club team at WSU, I am a referee for High School volleyball, and am the two year running champ for sand 4s coed tournament at WSU....I am studying at Washington state university to be an elementary teacher and want to coach either club or high school volleyball once I get out of college

Arielle Playford 2003-2005 Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker

I will be graduating from the University of Washington in Spring 2011 with a major in communications. After finishing school, I hope to go into public relations. I am the current president of the Washington Women's Club Volleyball Team and captain of the first team within the club. Last year I was a PIVA all-star, earning all-league honors as an outside hitter. I'm looking to build a strong, competitive team for both this year, and upcoming years. I often use my experiences at Redmond when it comes to how I run my own team and have many great memories of my years in the program. I hope to help coach when a Redmond club team gets started!

Megan (Halverson) Hymas 2001-2003 Opposite Hitter & Libero

I am recently married as of June 2008 and I am also pursuing a masters degree in public administration at BYU. I will graduate in April of 2011. As far as volleyball goes, I did continue to play intramural volleyball in college and still do for fun. It was really a great experience to be a part of a great team my senior year of high school. In one of my interviews prior to starting my masters degree I actually used the Redmond High School volleyball team as an example of a team experience in which we overcame adversity. I remember that we weren't the biggest, tallest, or most skilled team but I do remember that we were hard workers. We were persistent in our efforts, and it paid off. I also believe that we were cohesive as a team unit. We won the Kingco championship and went to state. I saw that as a great accomplishment. Granted, I now know that you've taken the Redmond High School volleyball to better and greater heights (I think you guys placed third or fourth in State right?) That's awesome. I've followed the volleyball team in the news in the past years and my Mom continues to keep me updated. Anyways, I just want you to know that I see my experience playing volleyball at Redmond High School as a great learning experience that taught me hard work and persistence.

Cheryl Bean 1999-2001 Defensive Specialist

My husband Conor moved out to North Carolina to pursue his dream job writing for the magazine Baseball America.  I finished out the school year teaching fourth grade at Christa McAuliffe Elementary in the Lake Washington School District, and I have just recently moved out to the East Coast.  I'm looking forward to touring the East Coast, but am also looking forward to making our way back to the West Coast in a few years

Brandi Gordon 1999-2001 Outside Hitter

Brandi Gordon, who was an assistant coach at Seattle University and helped the University of Washington reach the College World Series, joins the Harvard softball team as a coaching assistant beginning with the 2009 season. Gordon was an assistant coach for Seattle during the 2008 season. She worked with the team's slap hitters, coached outfield defense and directed the Redhawks' conditioning program.
